Bonfire season doesn't have to be done just because summer is over. In fact, with only a few adjustments, you can keep your backyard as the place to be for weekend fun throughout the fall! No matter the size or purpose of your backyard, try these additions for the perfect, warm outdoor space:

  • Build around the fire pit
During the summer, fire pits and bonfires are great for a late night campfire feel. But fall is when they can really shine and keep your warm! When you're reorganizing your backyard furniture for autumn, make the fire pit or fireplace the focal point. Everyone will end up migrating over to the warmth anyway.

  • Create a shelter
We're pretty lucky in San Mateo (and the rest of the Bay Area) to have mild seasons. However, we still see our fair share of rain. Don't let a little bit of rain ruin a perfectly nice September barbecue! Building a veranda, shelter or patio covering to protect the main gathering areas of your backyard can keep your furniture and guests from any weather condition.

  • Upgrade your setting
Summer is the perfect time for foldable lawn chairs and loungers. Now, it's time for cozy, cushioned patio seating. It can help you truly relax on those cool autumn nights with a good book.

  • Keep your backyard clean
It may not seem like peak-gardening season anymore, but don't let that be an excuse to letting the backyard get out of control! In fact, now is the best time to perfect your leaf-raking technique as the seasons change. It's important to keep soggy leaves off your patio and lawn for aesthetic and safety purposes. You don't want anyone to slip and fall!

Of course, an important part of having an inviting backyard outdoor space is keeping it clean and in good condition. If you notice your exterior siding needs a touch-up while you're sitting around the fire pit, give Peninsula Siding Company a call!
